It’s my pleasure to invite you to events being hosted by two of Alexandria’s biggest-hearted small businesses – Historic Christ Church Gift Shop and Artfully Gifts & Chocolate. Both of these businesses have an amazing commitment to our community and I’m proud to be associated with them!
The Historic Christ Church Gift Shop, located on N. Washington Street, gives away all the revenue it makes to support charities near and far. From the Carpenter’s Shelter in Alexandria to Little Roses Girls School and Orphanage in Honduras, the Gift Shop is a steady source of financial contributions and encouragement to hundreds of worthy causes. It’s open Tuesday-Sunday but its big source of sales is its annual holiday gift show. This year’s show is Sunday, Nov. 6 from 8:45 am to 2pm. I’m honored to sell my art cards and small reproductions of my paintings in this shop knowing that their sales make life better for so many people in need.
Artfully Gifts & Chocolates, at the other end of Old Town in the Carlyle Complex off Duke Street, is second to none in engaging the community. Just awarded Alexandria’s Small Business of the Year, Artfully Gifts & Chocolates is constantly hosting events that support local causes and a sense of community among the condos and businesses that surround it. Its owners Edward Hart and Eric Nelson also support local artists and were the first retailer to sell my art cards and gifts. On Thursday, Nov. 17 from 5:00 to 7:30pm, they’re hosting a “Meet the Artist” evening with me to introduce my newest art cards, reproductions based on some of my original oil paintings and my 2012 art calendar.
I invite you to attend one or both of these events and support two of our communities’ finest small businesses. Doing business with these retailers is a joy!
There’s one other event I’d be remiss not to mention – the Vander Zee Studio Painters Small Masterpieces Show and Opening Reception on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 6:00 to 9:00pm. The show will feature paintings smaller than 16″ x 20″ in a variety of media by Rob Vander Zee and the Vander Zee Studio Painters (this is the group I paint with). These small masterpieces will be on view through Nov. 30th in our gallery located at 105 S. Lee Street in Old Town on the third floor.
Hope to see you at these events –
